May 2026 Newsletter: Get Curious Launches, Free Books

Welcome to this month’s newsletter! Each month, I try to share what I’ve been up to, what things I’ve published that month, and exciting news if there’s any to be shared.

Amazon's Bestselling Lesbian YA showing Get Curious at #2

News and updates

This has been a busy month, with the end of another semester, the release of Get Curious, and the general requirements of staying afloat. We’ve got fun recaps to share and reminders of ways to get involved with the book.

Even with this launch being different, it was a fun one! Get Curious reached #2 for Bestselling Lesbian YA on Amazon, and #1 for Hot New Releases. These numbers mean a lot to authors like myself, so I appreciate those who supported the book on Amazon, even though I would rather not engage with Amazon at all. In fact, the book sold so well that it went temporarily out of stock quite quickly!

Near the start of the month, we announced a way for folks to get connected with free LGBTQ+ books to support ongoing wellbeing and care. Read that post to learn more and fill out a request for yourself or others!

In anticipation of the launch of the book earlier this month, Rachel wrote up an honest insight into how this book release is different from previous ones. In it, you can find ways that you can support the book so that more people can find it.

And finally, on launch day itself, we shared some images from the unboxing of the first copies of the book! You can also find the first chapter there as a sneak peek and information on an upcoming event for those who are in the Twin Cities (more on that below).

Come Celebrate With Me: Sinister Wisdom’s 50th Anniversary

If you’re interested in celebrating the launch of Get Curious, or sapphic literature and art in general, there is a great opportunity coming up soon! Next Wednesday, June 3rd, Sinister Wisdom will be holding a 50th anniversary fundraiser + release party in Minneapolis. I’ll be there, along with cover artist Stuff Studio and many other fantastic creators. And Ashton should be in the crowd. More info is in this flier, and you can optionally RSVP via this form if you’re interested.

If you’re still reading, remember that you can still post about the book on your favorite social platforms with the hashtag #GetCuriousBook. When May is over, I’ll tally up the posts and donate $1/post to MN charities supporting our immigrant community.

Stay tuned next month for more blog posts, other resources, and another newsletter. Thanks for being a reader!
