June 2025 Newsletter: What I’ve Been Up To

Welcome to this month’s newsletter! Each month, I try to share what I’ve been up to, what things I’ve published that month, and exciting news if there’s any to be shared.

News and updates

Happy Pride Month! We hope you’ve been feeling community and comfort with people who are important to you. To add support this month, we released a new hub page: Flourishing in the Margins. This page collects our ideas and further resources on flourishing for folks with marginalized identities. Here you’ll find hope and inspiration, as well as steps you can take to show yourself more care. A reminder that these hubs are living pages, so if you have a resource you think belongs, reach out to ash@ashtonrosewrites so we can take a look at it!

Going into Pride Month, we’ve both been thinking a lot about spending power, corporations, DEI, and the evolution of not just Pride celebrations, but LGBTQ+ spaces in general. In Embracing Community Pride, we explore the corporatization of Pride events, its pros and cons, and the cultural turning point we currently find ourselves at. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic! You can leave a comment on that post.

Bonus blog post from Ashton! Spline Theory: Deepening my Understanding of Autism came out of a conversation with Rachel where they shared a post about spline theory with me. It immediately clicked, and I knew I had to write about it. Rachel and I figured you all might enjoy it as well. If you have thoughts on it, I’d love to hear them either in the comments or by contacting me on my site!

Things that have brought us joy this month:

From Ashton:

For gaming, I’ve been exploring the world of Dragon Age: Awakening, as well as finishing DOOM 3 and its DLCs. This combination of horror and fantasy has been a very fulfilling one for me. I’m also gearing up for this year’s People’s Pride celebration in Minneapolis, and continuing to do crafts, like the painting you see here.

One of the biggest things on my mind is a book recommendation from Rachel: Polysecure by Jessica Fern. This overview of attachment, trauma, and nonmonogamy has proven both insightful and intellectually stimulating. I’m enjoying the chance to examine my relationships and the way I connect with others as well as myself. And doing it while everything blooms outside just feels right.

Do you have any media or craft recommendations? Let us know in the comments below!

Stay tuned next month for more blog posts, resources, and another newsletter. Thanks for being a reader!
